With approval of the State Council, the China Jilin-Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo, which is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the Office of the Leading Group for Revitalizing Northeast China & Other Traditional Industries Bases Under the State Council and the People’s Government of Jilin Province, will be held in Chang Chun, Jilin from September 2nd to 6th, 2005.
The Expo will consist of three major parts: Commodity Fair, Investment Fair and specialized international conferences on regional cooperation in Northeast Asia.
I. Commodity Fair
It is for showcasing the economic strengths, and well-known and high-quality products and native produce of Northeast China, other relevant provinces and municipalities, five Northeast Asian nations and other relevant countries, and establishing a platform for trade in goods between China and countries in Northeast Asia as well as worldwide.
Covering a total area of 33, 000 square meters, the Changchun International Convention Center, the venue of the Expo, is equipped with 6 indoor exhibition halls (A, B, C, D, E and F). In addition, the Convention Center has an outdoor exhibition area of over 30, 000 square meters.
1. International Exhibition Section.
Exhibitors in this area are from Northeast Asian nations, and regions such as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Each of these countries or regions will have their sub-sections respectively for comprehensive exhibition.
2. Domestic Exhibition Section.
There are six theme exhibitions in this area, showcasing well-known and high-quality products and native produce of relevant provinces and municipalities of China.
3. Jilin Exhibition Section.
It is mainly for introducing and promoting the Expo and the ten leading industries of Jilin Province.
II. Investment Fair.
The Investment Fair will organize participants to promote investment projects, release business promotion information, and engage themselves in discussions over specific projects so as to expand investment cooperation in the region.
Meanwhile, the Investment Fair will organize four special sessions. They are:
1. Briefing on the Revitalization of Northeast China and Other Traditional Industrial Bases.
2. Project Promotion on Merger and Acquisition of State-Owned Enterprises
3. Project promotion covering 10 industries in Northeast China, namely automobile, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, photoelectron, deep processing of agricultural produce and byproducts thereof, energy, metallurgy, textile, new building materials and tourism.
4. Project Promotion on Enterprises’ “Going Global”.
III. Specialized international conferences on regional cooperation in Northeast Asia
1. Northeast Asia Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum.
In an effort to promote inter-regional dialogue, exchanges and cooperation, the Forum will invite senior ministerial officials in charge of trade and economic affairs from Northeast Asian nations to make keynote speeches. Counselors from participating countries, business elites, experts and scholars will also be invited to explore ways and means of strengthening trade and economic links within Northeast Asia.
2. Fifth East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum (EATOF 2005).
As the hosting province of EATOF this year, Jilin Province is seeking to leverage EATOP 2005 for boosting the development of tourist resources in Northeast and Southeast Asian nations, in particular the nine countries in East and Southeast Asia, and for closer trade and economic cooperation in the region.
