A Danish court will be asked to rule on the legality of SAS's use of Chinese and Japanese cabin crew on its routes to the Far East – a judgement that could cost the airline up to DKK7m. A spokesman for FTF, the union for cabin personnel, said the ruling was a matter of principle and 'decisive' for labour relations. 'It's important that a Danish company, especially one that is partly-owned by the government, abides by the rules and makes sure that its employees have the requisite papers and work permits – an airline can't fly with people who aren't legally allowed to work in this country,' said head of FTF Bente Sørensen.
